How the AudiArts Festival Works

  • Step 1. The Selection

For the inaugural year, we have reached out to three local theatre creators in Winnipeg, MB about an opportunity where they will get to perform their piece, resulting in an audio archival which they can use in the future for promotions, grant purposes, or simply for their personal use.

  • Step 2. The Festival

The inaugural festival will take place October 24-26, 2025 at The Gargoyle Theatre.

Each group will have a single performance to showcase their work—resulting in a digital copy of the performance, which will be edited post performance.

The festival will also be holding talk backs after each performance to discuss the show and to allow the audience to ask questions about the festival itself.

  • Step 3. The Archives

Once the festival has concluded, editing will be done to master the audio files from the performance of each of the shows.

Once the editing is done, the files will be given to the participating groups to do with as they please.

The festival will also include an archival page on the site itself with these audio files for those who would like to listen and learn more about the shows, the companies, and the playwrights.

The Talkback

We are excited to include, in our inaugural year, talkbacks after each performance. These talkbacks will have two purposes: for the audience to ask questions relating to the performance, and for there to be an open discussion about the festival’s future. There will be time for the performers to answer questions about their show, but we will also be looking to discuss the festival as a whole, and how we can improve in the future.

The 2025 festival will be a pilot — and we want to hear from you! We want to know about your interests, your support, your insights and suggestions, and what you might see as possible, future pitfalls. Your input would be greatly appreciated as we dive into this first festival.
