About the festival

Welcome to the AudiArts Festival debut. A theatre festival in the distinctive radio-play style. The aim is to create a stage for local theatre companies to explore the genre and entertain with this well-loved art form.

This idea of expanding the presence of radio plays has been growing in the mind of Linda Olson, a local theatre enthusiast and a lover of radio dramas. For several years now, she has tried to think of ways to expand the presence of radio plays in the local theater scene. Wouldn’t it be great see these plays performed on-stage before a live audience? And recorded, to carry not just in memory but also on your device? Showcase made-in-Manitoba original works to a wider audience? The possibilities were endless, but where to start. After sharing this dream with local theatre artists and patrons alike, the concept of the AudiArts Festival was born.

This debut festival is the first step in making the AudiArts Festival an annual event, starting this October 24, 25, and 26, in Winnipeg, at the Gargoyle Theatre. Each of the three plays presented will be followed by a talk-back session. AudiArts would like to hear your thoughts on this project. So, bring your comments, your questions, and your insights. And be prepared to be entertained.
